5 minute exposure capturing the lights from the buildings and other boats along the Grand Canal at dusk as seen from a vaporetto (water bus).
This abstract blast of colour was built up from the multitude of bright lights that were just taking over from the fading blue sky light. As the boat navigated the turns of the canal, the trails are pushed into unexpected directions causing brush like strokes of light.
The bottom third of the image is all water reflections that beautifully records the ripples and trails of the passing boats.
The middle third is mainly boats with their bright internal and external lights, and the top third has faint trails from lit windows in the buildings behind that have been overlaid onto the sky, bringing some unexpected splashes of green.
This ended up as a delightfully warm image, which admittedly completely failed to capture the rather cold February wind that was blowing that day.
